SEJARAH

The beginning of the Sport Science Study Program began when the Surabaya State IKIP Senate wanted to change its status to a University. The minimum requirement to become a University is that there are three faculties which are exact based. The Faculty of Sports and Teacher Training (FPOK) has the opportunity from humanities to become exact sciences. In 1998 sport was legitimized by the Discipline Commission (KDI) as a science. There are three departments at the Faculty of Sports and Teacher Training (FPOK), namely Coaching Education, Health and Recreation Physical Education and Health and Recreation Education. At that time only the Department of Health and Recreation Education could turn it into an exata. After that, a sports science study program was proposed in April 1999 which was approved by the Discipline Commission (KDI). In 1999 the sports science study program opened new student registration to date. The opening of the Sports Science Study Program was accompanied by the change of the Surabaya State Teachers' Training College to become the Surabaya State University.
